Job Openings
The Kaplan Center is seeking qualified persons to fill the following 3 positions: Physician (full- or part-time) - Freedom to practice medicine the way you've always wanted -- that's the most important thing we can offer you. For over 24 years, The Kaplan Center for Integrative Medicine has specialized in helping patients recover from chronic pain and illness. The medical team is comprised of physicians, physical therapists, psychotherapists, nurses and a nutritionist who meet bi-weekly to coordinate patient care and to share treatment insights and recommendations. As a fee-for-service practice, the Center can provide patients with a level of care that is almost unknown in insurance-based systems. Seeing 10 to 13 patients per day in sessions that last from 30 to 60 minutes, you will have time to listen to your patients and talk with them about their symptoms, medical and social history, treatment plan, and life circumstances that might aid or hinder their recovery. We are seeking a physician with strong diagnostic skills, in-depth knowledge of the body’s biomechanics and neuromuscular structure, experience practicing family medicine or pain medicine, an understanding of the role of mind-body medicine in treating chronic illness and an appreciation of the power of working in a multidisciplinary team environment. Of particular interest: a practitioner experienced in osteopathic manual medicine, medical acupuncture, homeopathy or psychotherapy. Most importantly, we are looking for a doctor who will be excited about the chance to work in a team setting where it is possible to provide outstanding care to patients. Located 10 minutes from Washington, DC, the Kaplan Center is a teaching affiliate of Georgetown University Medical School, and it enjoys an outstanding reputation as the oldest integrative medical clinic in the Washington, D.C. area. Please visit our website at www.kaplanclinic.com. The Center offers a generous benefits package (including pension, liability insurance, license fees and CME allowance). To learn more about this opportunity, please call Fran Callanan at 703-532-4892 x 651, or send your CV by email to: kaplanclinic@his.com or by fax to: 703-536-5470. Physical Therapist (full- or part-time) - We are looking for physical therapist to collaborate with us in helping patients negotiate their journey to healing. Treat 7 patients per day in 50-minute sessions, so you can focus on providing hands-on care and educating patients on the steps they need to take to heal. The ideal candidate has had 4 years of orthopedic experience, is committed to providing outstanding care to patients, and appreciates the power and support of working in a multidisciplinary-team environment where patients benefit from shared insights and treatment recommendations. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive, collegial environment where you can continue to grow professionally and enjoy superior compensation. The Clinic's PTs are an integral part of its "healing team" (which is comprised of 2 PTs, 2 DOs, 1 MD, 1 nutritionist and 2 psychotherapists). In addition to physical therapy, psychotherapy, and conventional medical therapies, the Clinic's practitioners use integrative approaches such as acupuncture, osteopathic manipulative therapy, Chinese herbs, nutritional supplements, homeopathic remedies and a mind-body stress reduction meditation program. In essence, the Clinic's approach is to treat the whole person, not just bodies or body parts. In the words of one of the Clinic's physical therapists: "I feel fulfilled working in an environment where all of a person's needs - physical, emotional and spiritual - are taken into consideration. As PTs, we have easy access and close communication to the referring physicians and the psychotherapists. The physical therapists and physicians meet formally on a bi-weekly basis to review difficult cases and to share insights about each patient's need for ongoing treatment. Beyond that, we can always pick up the phone or meet informally. This access provides a great opportunity to learn from the physicians and psychotherapists, but I want to emphasize that these discussions are always a two-way conversation. The PTs' professional recommendations are highly valued and incorporated into the patients' overall treatment plans." The Clinic offers an excellent salary, health insurance, pension plan, professional liability coverage, professional association fees, continuing education benefits, and a generous signing bonus. The Kaplan Clinic is a teaching affiliate of Georgetown University Medical School, and it enjoys an outstanding reputation as the oldest integrative health care clinic in the Washington, D.C. area. To learn more about this unique opportunity, please email your CV or resume to the Clinic's PT Director at: jeannekc@his.com, fax: 703-237-3105, or call Jeanne at 703-532-4892. Medical Assistant (Full- or Part-Time) -- We are looking for a bright, compassionate professional who is skilled in phlebotomy and who has experience taking vitals, doing EKGs and who is willing to learn to assist with acupuncture and other alternative-medicine modalities. Most importantly, the successful candidate will share our goal of delivering the highest standard of service to patients. Our clinic offers conventional medical therapies, as well as alternative therapies such as acupuncture, osteopathic manipulation, physical therapy, psychotherapy, homeopathy, Chinese herbal remedies, nutritional counseling and mind-body stress management meditation classes. Every member of the Kaplan clinic team contributes his or her unique skills and abilities to helping our patients heal. Learn more about us by visiting our website at www.kaplanclinic.com. Please email your resume to kaplanclinic@his.com or fax to Robin at 703-237-3105. Salary commensurate with experience; excellent health insurance and pension benefits.
