McKenzie Method
In treating chronic pain, there is an important role for invasive measures, such as epidural steroid injections, the surgical implantation of dorsal-column stimulators and other surgical options. But there is also a multitude of effective, non-invasive manual treatment options available to patients, with far fewer side effects and risks.
At the Kaplan Medical Center we employ osteopathic manual medicine, physical therapy, including the McKenzie Approach, massage therapy, craniosacral therapy and Reiki. These manual and energetic approaches help patients cut back on medication and avoid unnecessary surgeries. When incorporated into an individualized and comprehensive treatment plan your healing is likely to be much faster and more complete.
McKenzie Method. Also known as " Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy," the McKenzie Method is a safe, non-invasive, highly reliable and cost effective way of accurately diagnosing and alleviating a number of painful conditions including:
- Back pain
- Carpal Tunnel
- Chronic Headaches
- Chronic Migraines
- Complications from failed spinal surgeries
- Disc Herniations
- Neck Pain
- Sciatica
- Tension Headaches
Using the McKenzie Method, we are able to help many patients avoid surgery by treating damaged spinal discs through manual therapy and movement. A critical aspect of this approach involves teaching patients to practice individualized exercises at home so that the damaged tissue will continue to heal and the patients can regain strength and flexibility. Patients with both chronic and acute pain conditions are candidates for treatment.
