Massage / CranioSacral Therapist:
Linda Glick, C.M.T.

Linda Glick, C.M.T. Kaplan Center for Integrative MedicineA Certified Massage Therapist trained in CranioSacral Therapy, Lymph Drainage Massage, and Oncology Massage, Linda Glick is also a Reiki Master, a Brain Gym instructor and a key part of the Kaplan Medical Center’s rehabilitation staff.

Lymph Drainage Therapy is a deeply relaxing massage that is useful for relieving chronic and subacute inflammations. While it is most commonly used in the treatment of cancer-related lymphedema, it has many other applications as well. For instance, it helps to remove toxins from the body and can be a valuable addition to a detox protocol (i.e, patients undergoing treatment for heavy metal or mold toxicity). Lymph Drainage Therapy can be used to relieve post-surgical edema and to remove residual anesthesia from the body. Research also has shown lymph drainage therapy to be helpful in the reduction of the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

Linda also is trained in a special type of cognitive physical therapy called “ Brain Gym,” which improves cognitive functioning, physical coordination and emotional balance.

As a licensed special education and reading specialist in Virginia for over 32 years, Linda recognized Brain Gym as an extraordinary method of helping children learn. Once she started using Brain Gym in class, she noticed dramatic improvements in her students’ attitudes, attention, homework, behavior and academic performance.

At the Kaplan Medical Center, Linda uses the exercises, which develop the brain's neural pathways, to help patients who have suffered a stroke, other brain injuries or neurological conditions regain brain-related functions such as memory, vision, speech, emotional balance, physical coordination, learning and expression.

To obtain specific medical results, Linda meets privately with patients so that they can set their own personal goals (such as clearer speech or greater ease walking up and down stairs). To achieve the desired changes in performance, Linda guides the patient in practicing specific Brain Gym movements. During the session, the patient will repeat the activity to validate that learning has occurred, and he or she will be asked to practice the exercises at home. The positive results of these private sessions are evident immediately and increase over time.

Linda also is an experienced CranioSacral Therapist. Through this treatment modality, she is able to evaluate and provide symptomatic relief for a wide range of medical problems including:

  • Central Nervous System Disorders
  • Chronic Neck and Back Pain
  • Migraine Headaches
  • Orthopedic Difficulties
  • Scoliosis
  • Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
  • Traumatic Brain & Spinal Cord Injuries

Linda Glick gives presentations on a variety of massage related topics. Below is an article that she recently co-authored with Dr. Gary Kaplan:
